Bake a pie

Standard

This weekend my Mini me decided to ask her friend for a sleepover. I didn’t feel like taking them out as the weather was  so bad the girls wanted to do indoor stuff.

We baked an apple pie because I had  some ready-made pastry in the fridge. Simple quick and easy. Mini me and her friend peeled the apples whilst I cored and sliced them.  We used normal everyday gala eating apples because that’s what I had in the fridge.

The apples were steamed gently with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, a teaspoon of butter and a pinch of cinnamon.

We egg washed and blind baked the pastry case before adding the filling, as no one likes a soggy bottom!

I added the filling and put the lid on the pie. We  made the leaf decorations by cutting around a teaspoon. I egg washed the top  so the pastry is  shiny and golden when it comes out of the oven. Bake according to the directions on the packet of pastry and voila!
